Starting Over

Chelsea walked the halls of the mansion, heels clicking on the floor and echoing of the walls. She reached her destination -- her and Afton's chamber.

She swung the door open and saw Afton standing by the window, back facing her. Chelsea walked over and stood beside her mate. Neither one spoke for a while, just looked out into the night.

Afton broke the silence, "Any word?"

She shook her head, blonde hair bobbing with each shake, "Nothing."

Few words, but enough. Chelsea turned and tossed on her cloak, flicking the hood up. She waited for her mate to put his on before they walked out their chamber together, going to hunt.

They met up with Heidi who was speaking in a hushed voice with Demetri. The two looked up when they saw Afton and Chelsea approaching. Chelsea said, "Heidi, Demetri. We are going hunting." Again, few words, but it was enough of an invitation for them. Both flicked their hoods up and soon the group went out into the night.

Heidi was speaking softly to Demetri with a hushed tone but cut off when she noticed Chelsea and Afton joining Demetri and her side. She nodded her greeting to the couple, taking a step away from Demetri to look at Chelsea who spoke with a quick tone.

An invite to go hunting. It was indeed that time of the day. The castle had been quiet recently and all the guards were either away on a mission or hunting for themselves. Heidi hadn't been needed to go in search of humans, other than to feed the guards. She suspected the reason the other guards were hunting by themselves was because they were edgy. The castle had been too silent as of recently, dreadfully silent. Heidi couldn't help but wonder if it was the calm before the storm.

With a sharp nod, Heidi turned back to her mate, Demetri and raised an eyebrow, as if asking if he would join as well. Her question was met with a slight nod of the head.

Spinning on her heel, Heidi flicked her hair over her shoulder, pulling her hood over her hair before both her and Demetri followed Chelsea and Afton to the entrance of the castle.

'Time to do something exciting.'

Chelsea walked with Afton and Heidi and Demetri were right behind them. They went out into the night in search of some humans.

They walked down a street with silent footsteps, almost as if they were all gliding through the night.

The group stopped together as they all spotted a larger group of humans. Without saying anything, they advanced on them. The humans were talking among themselves and throwing around some alcohol. Stupid fools.

The Volturi stopped in front of them and Chelsea and Heidi stepped forward and cleared their throats. The humans were mainly all male except for one or two females. The males stopped and stared.

Chelsea smiled and Heidi placed a hand on her hip, flipping her hair over her shoulder.

Almost as if on cue the female vampires said, "Hello, boys."

Heidi couldn't help but chuckle slightly when the humans all reacted the same way at the greeting Chelsea and Heidi had sent their way. All humans acted the same when encountering a human. Wide eyes, mouths gaping, and totally dazzled. One would think it would get boring to look at but their constant stupidity was endlessly amusing.

However, one of the females at the back of the group seemed rather hesitate. It would appear she was more aware than the others. Her eyes shifted nervously from each of the Volturi's face and back.

Every once and a while, a human would clue into what they were, usually the more eccentric the human, the blind they were to what's in front of them.

Turning her head slightly, the beauty turned and looked at her mate, nodding at him once before he zoomed to the back of the group, cutting off any chance of escape.

They couldn't allow any witnesses or escapees. Master Aro would be most displeased if that happened.

Grinning, Heidi turned back to the humans and took a step forward, "Are you hungry? We're famished and we were wondering if you'd like to join us for a snack."

Afton comes up beside Chelsea, watching the humans. Chelsea smirks at Heidi's words and two of the men stumble towards Heidi and Chelsea, their mouths gaping open. One man's hand clasps around Chelsea's wrist and she makes a face. Stupid human filth.

Afton moves swiftly and throws the two humans away and into the far wall and the chaos begins.

The female humans begin shrieking and the Volturi move swiftly. Demetri kills two of the males and begins to drink them.

Chelsea and Heidi take off for some of the men. Chelsea closes her hand around a man's throat and slams him into the wall. She leans forward and sinks her teeth into his neck, draining them dry.

She shares a look with Heidi and they both nod. They needed to silence the women before anyone took notice of them. Both females dash towards them.

Heidi pinned a man against the wall, sinking her teeth into his butter-soft neck and draining him dry. With a flick of her wrist, she threw him from her body, making sure that not a speck of blood was wasted, especially not on her clothes.

Heidi glanced up and noticed Chelsea nodding her her direction, towards the females who were currently in shock but it wouldn't last long once they knew the vampire's attention was on them. The beauty returned the nod before jetting towards the females, side by side with Chelsea.

An ice cold hand clamped down on the human girl's arm, squeezing tightly and shattering the bones to dust. However, Heidi was quicker than the human and before the girl could even open her mouth to scream in fear and pain, Heidi had snapped her neck and was already proceeding to drink her dry.

Chelsea grabbed the other female and tossed her into the wall and caught her around the throat before the human dropped to the floor.

With a flick of her wrist, Chelsea snapped the girl's neck and sucked the blood out of her. She let it drop and turned to the others. She saw Heidi tossing her hair behind her shoulder and Afton and Demetri were throwing the corpses over their shoulders at a fast pace.

The Volturi quickly cleaned up. Chelsea held two corpses in her arms and they dashed off towards a field.

They tossed them in a careless heap and Demetri brought out matches. The flames began to lick at the corpses.

The four of them stood closely around the fire, making sure that nothing escaped the licking flames but also being cautions not to venture close enough to the fire, themselves. One would not want to die in such a pathetic manner.

Once the flames started to flicker out, Demetri walked over the ashes and stopped the burning embers out before kicking some dark soil on top to be sure. One could never been too careful. If a fire broke out afterwards, the humans would investigate and who knows what they would find. They were such meddlesome creatures, always stumbling in where they weren't wanted.

Nodding to her mate, Heidi walked over to him and wrapped her arm around his while turning back to the other couple.

Chelsea looped her arm through Afton's and placed her hand in the crook of his elbow. This was how they used to walk all the time when Chelsea first met him. She watched the flames finally die down and then she turned and met Heidi's eyes.

The beauty nodded at the bond manipulator. Chelsea spoke, "That was filling."

Heidi smirked, "Indeed."

Demetri gestered with his free hand towards Volterra, "Shall we head back?"

Afton nodded and placed his hand over Chelsea's that was in the crook of his arm, "Yes."

The four went back to the castle and Felix was waiting for them, arms crossed. Chelsea looked up at him, waiting for him to say something.

He spoke in a low voice, "Master Aro is wanting you four in the Hall. Now."

The group brushed past the big guard member and headed to the Hall. Chelsea wondered why they were needed so urgently. Another mission? Good, she was itching for something exciting to happen. She exchanged a look with Heidi and clutched Afton's arm again.

Heidi looked up at Felix, nodding her head and followed after the muscular guard. It had been a while since Master Aro had summoned us into his presence. The castle had been so dull as of recently so there had been no reason to, other than feeding but Heidi simply brought them their pitches and glass of blood before taking her leave, allowing the Masters and the Wives to dine.

However, hopefully Master Aro would be sending them on a mission or something as equally exciting. Heidi knew that the others wanted to stretch the muscles as much as she did.

Perhaps, there was a Coven to exterminate. But please, don't let us be going to recruit new newborns with gifts. They were always so difficult to deal with, especially that 'woo-is-me' mindset. And newbords were always a risk and annoyance when brought to Volterra. They took such a long time to learn their place and always overstepped their boundaries.

Sighing, Heidi flicked her hair over her shoulder before looking up at Demetri, who was looking down at her in question.

"I do hope for some excitement," Heidi spoke as the ventured further into the castle.

Chelsea and Afton released their hold on another and stood together in the hall. Chelsea could feel their cloaks brushing against one another as Chelsea flicked her hood down.

Aro rose from his chair and held his hands open to address the four. Chelsea's eyes flicked over to see the twins standing together in their usual spot near Aro. She focused again on Aro and he began to speak.

"There has been some trouble in Africa. Some coven there has not been behaving. Demetri, you are track them down immediately. Heidi, you are to attract their attention. Chelsea, break their bonds from one another for they may have several vampires who have abilities. Afton, you'll be guard and help elliminate." Aro paused and looked at the four before he finished speaking, "I'm trusting just you four with this mission. I'm looking to see if you can complete this without the help of our greatest power," he turned to Jane and Alec then back, "and if you do, I will be pleased."

Chelsea dipped her head and she heard Demetri speak in a brisk voice, "Of course, Master, we will not disappoint you."

"I hope not," Aro said as he turned around and went back to his seat. "Now, be off this instant. I want that coven destroyed." He waved his hand and the four looked at one another, pulling their hoods up.
