Edward almost died of the Spanish Influenza if it wasn't for his mother to persuade Carlisle to do everything in his power to save him. Edward was a very sadistic person after that because he was lonely and thought of himself as a monster. That was, of course, before he found Bella and became her husband. They had a beautiful daughter, Renesmee, and now they are together forever. Sometimes, he still gets moody thinking about his human life but he is always happy when Bella is around.
